The Ballad of Cheo Madera
To a calypso beat
Ambitious men are all the same;
Their highest goal in life is fame,
But what finally come to he
Was simply notoriety.
He found a pro in development;
Said he was from heaven sent,
But his only specialty
Was developing photography.
Cheo, Cheo,
The young man from Banco de Ponce.
Cheo, Cheo,
Fomento's perfect Ponceño.
He could not stomach Manny C.
As his New York deputy,
So he sent up Cobián
To warm his seat when he was gone.
He had a man named Jimmy Clark.
He worked from dawn until the dark,
But he threw him in the can
To get himself a "yes sir" man.
Cheo, Cheo,
The young man from Banco de Ponce.
Cheo, Cheo,
Fomento's perfect Ponceño.
Then the major service man
Had a very clever plan.
He sent a little note about:
"You stand up or you stand out."
While these troubles came to pass,
The man flew only by first class,
And when he came down from the air
A limousine was always there.
Cheo, Cheo,
The young man from Banco de Ponce.
Cheo, Cheo,
Fomento's perfect Ponceño.
Ambitious men are all the same,
Their highest goal in life is fame
But what finally come to he
Was simply notoriety
