Big George Floyd
To the
cadence of “Big
Bad John”
(Big George)
(George Floyd)
This drug-addled giant was really hard to subdue.
He stood six
feet four and weighed two twenty-two,
With a criminal
rap sheet as long as your arm,
Made a national hero when he bought the farm.
(Big George, George Floyd)
Big Bad George
(Big George)
His death fed a narrative that they want us to buy.
A Black crossing cops is quite likely to die.
Never mind what led up to that officer’s knee
And that his means of restraint was cop SOP.
The cop’s knee suffocated him
they’d have us believe,
But George cried before that that he couldn’t breathe.
Those following our news media would never suspect
That that’s a common fentanyl side effect.
(Big George, George Floyd)
Big Bad George
(Big George)
The tragic drama that we witnessed that day
Was one that was started halfway through the play.
With the preceding contextual video withheld,
They let their policemen be pilloried
and jailed.
While they give their criminals nine yards of slack,
The pols didn’t have law enforcement’s back.
Preferring to bend to the will
of the mob,
They brushed off the coroner
doing his job.
(Big George, George Floyd)
Big Bad George
(Big George)
Approaching the story a few beats too late,
They fostered their own national climate of hate.
But the violence unleashed was virtuous and right,
Because the objects of hate in this case were white.
With malice and mayhem alive in the air,
There was no chance of an end that was fair.
Death, destruction, and discord reigned,
While promoters of racial division gained.
(Big George, George Floyd)
Big Bad George
(Big George)
While time-honored tributes around us come down
An obstreperous criminal is made fit
for a crown.
It’s nothing short of a national disgrace
That a man like this should stand for a race.
(Big George, George Floyd)
Big Bad George
(Big George)
(George Floyd)
Big George Floyd
(Big George)
